Exploring mark making.
WEEK 1: Sunday Mornings 9.30am to 12.00noon
Using a variety of different materials we explore numerous drawing mark making possibilities. We start drawing from the right brain, a more emotional approach, using soft almost snail like marks avoiding hard and confining outlines. Using charcoal, bamboo pens, ink and ink-washes, chalk, white, black and craft paper, we investigate a loser and more imaginative way to draw.
Understanding light and tone.
WEEK 2: Sunday Mornings 9.30am to 12.00noon
From our first weeks basic drawing we add a range of tonal shading, the fist stage in moving from the linear to a three dimensional image. As we investigate the planes of light in a subject we start to eliminate lines and create a drawing purely out of tonal spaces.
Note: Week 1 and 2 are recommended with Week 3, optional to accommodate your other commitments.
Perspective and the vanishing point.
WEEK 3: Sunday Mornings 9.30am to 12.00noon
Looks at how to interpret the perspective of a view then turn it into a three-dimensional drawing. We emulate the way that our eyes work to evaluate distance, identifying the horizon and vanishing point. Using these you will then draw a tonal landscape.
